Let’s Talk About Social Media Baby!

So many people I see posting on Social Media do just one platform and leave it there.  If you are someone who is trying to establish yourself in a business venture, you can’t stop there.  Over the last few months I have learned so much about this subject.  There are a multitude of possibilities out there.  You just need to work to find them.

My favorite so far is, of course, Facebook.  Facebook is a powerful tool.  But it does take some work to make it work for you.  Research is the key.  For instance, as my interest is in planners I went into Facebook and just typed that in the search box.  It brought up several groups that had that in their tagline.  So after finding them I sent a request to join.  I either was included on click or had to wait for approval.  But after this it is still a tricky process.  Don’t start posting ‘buy my stuff’ posts right away.  Just post like things that you see other posting in the group.  It’s sort of like flirting to gain acceptance.  And always be sure and read their rules first.  If it says ‘don’t post sale item’, don’t post them.  You will get removed.

However, once accepted, it is a great place to share what you’re trying to sell.  And it’s a good way to learn just what those people are interested in.  After you get accepted be sure and keep it up.  Like I said, it is a lot of work.  But it can have some good rewards.

The second most viewed platform is Instagram.  It is much the same.  Do your research.  Put keywords in the search box and look for like minded people.  Follow them and establish a network for yourself.  Then post, post, post.  Instagram is a fickle platform, but it can be powerful.

After these comes Pinterest which is good for fast posting.  It can bring people to your website.  If you don’t have one, research it and get it done.  Even if it’s one page, it gives people somewhere to go.  Then there’s YouTube which is great if you have the time to invest.  And finally Twitter which does take an investment of time and is, in my opinion, an art form in itself.  But a great platform once you establish a viewership.

So get out there and research other platforms.  Establish a following or a group among them.  It’s a great way to get yourself out there.  And if you’re someone with a business, it’s a necessity.

Happy Planning!

Created For You (And Me) – A Post Planner Worksheet

I work with so many different social platforms that sometimes I get a little confused. So to help me out and make the process easier, I created this Post Planner Worksheet. It’s really easy to use and I find it helpful. So I’ll go over a few points just to clarify how I use it. The Concern is what I’m posting about. I just write out a description. Main platform is where I’m posting first. For example, if I’m doing a YouTube video I will just write that as my Main Platform. Subject Broad can mean the general interest that I’m posting about. For example, if I’m doing a YouTube video on my planner, that’s what I write in there. Subject Defined, I go into a little more detail. Then I just outline some of the things I want to put into my video. The Bullet Points are usually the things I want to stress in my post. I know this all sounds a little simple, but it helps me a lot. Especially if I’m filming.

The rest is pretty straight forward. After I do my main post I follow up with the rest of social media. You can easily download it from either of these links.

The first is the pdf:  postplannerworksheet

This is an excel file if you want to fill it out that way:  postplannerworksheet

Hope you find this helpful.

Look What I Found At Walmart – Leisure Arts Planning Kit and Gel Pens

While browsing thru Walmart the other day, I came across an end cap with a lot of Leisure Arts products.  Two of them interested me.  The Gel Pens for some reason looked like something that I might use.  The Planning & Journaling Accesory Set intrigued me because I thought they might fit into my Happy Planner.  The pages were punched in the same manner as my Happy Planner classic.  Since both were fairly reasonable I bought them.

The Gel Pens are pretty good quality.  I did have one mishap because a pen leaked in the box.  Trust me to probably find the one box where a pen leaked.  But the rest are okay.  They write really smooth and the colors are bright and true to the cap color.  There are 36 in the set I bought.  But they do come in smaller sets as well.

The Planning & Journaling pages do indeed fit in the Happy Planner.  They are punched the same and fit right into the discs.  The only difference is the pages are slightly bigger than the pages in the planner.  But I intend to use these with an old planner for a project, so that doesn’t bother me.

If you want to see more about these, be sure and go to my YouTube video here:  http://bit.ly/2fqPdjN

Hopefully you can still find these at your Walmart if you’re interested.  If not, check out the links in my video.

Setting Up My Happy Planner With Flamingo Flurry

Thought I would share how I setup my Happy Planner for the week.  This week I decided to use my Flamingo Flurry sticker set.  Love the pretty pink flamingos and the colorful checklist squares.  This set is designed to fit in the Happy Planner squares but could be trimmed down to use in other planners.  I also like that this set matches the Flamingo Summer cover that is also available in my Etsy Shop.  And that I am currently using.  Just click on the Etsy shop tab at the top of my page to go check them out.

To start off I put the colorful checklist squares in the top section of the planner pages.  I strongly suggest taking the pages out of the planner to work on them.  It just makes it so much easier.  It is a challenge for me to get these squares centered into the squares.  I envy those who can do it so neatly.  I worked hard to get the beautiful colors to match the rest of the set.  Add the pattern squares and ready for the next step.

After the squares I use the washi tape.  I cut the tape down the middle to fit in the stripes between the squares.  I really love when the pattern is such that I can cut down the middle of the tape neatly.

After the washi tape comes the cute flamingo stickers.  These are close cut because of the thin flamingo legs.  Just be careful when pulling these off the sticker paper.  I placed them around the page to make it interesting.

And voila, the decorating is done.  I decided to keep this week pretty casual and not overdo the stickers.  I needed the room to write.  It’s going to be a busy week for me.

Hope you enjoyed this tour of this week’s Happy Planner setup.  Be sure and go to my YouTube Channel to see me setting up my planner with these Flamingo Flurry stickers.  And be sure and check them out in my Etsy Shop.
